Don is a bona fide master shredder born and
raised in Detroit, Michigan. He made the move from air guitar to the real
thing in 1984, having been inspired by Kiss, Judas Priest, Blue Oyster cult
and others. He was badgered into joining his first band while in high school
due to his ability to tap a portion of the solo in "Eruption".
From there, Don played in nightclubs, small local theaters, and opened for a
few
semi-national acts. He honed his skills while studying with Jeff Loven and
attending Vinnie Moore clinics, avidly pursuing the "shrapnel-shredder" genre
and practicing constantly.
His focus and enthusiasm led him to the finals of the "Twin Cities
Best Rock Guitarist" contest on several occasions.
Don continued performing in bands, but took a break after the grunge movement
put a serious dent in the shred/thrash/hair
metal era. He plunged back into
things in the early "aughts" and in 2002 joined the Musician War site, which
kicked him back into high gear.
In 2007 Don recorded music for the video game release "Pinball Hall of Fame:
The Williams Collection". He also recorded a metal tune called "Maelstrom" for
the game soundtrack of the same name, released in February 2008 for Wii, PSP,
and PS2 consoles.
