This is a tutorial series covering some basic, introductory classical guitar techniques of the left hand.
Many of the general rules of guitar mechanics for all other styles (pop, rock, blues, country, etc.) also apply to classical guitar style.
We use the one finger per fret rule as a general guide to fretting notes. It is important to curve or arch your fingers so you can keep your fingertips straight down into the neck surface and string when fretting a note. Place your fingertip right behind the frets, not on the frets or too far behind them.
Do not hold the neck with your palm. Keep your thumb directly behind the neck providing opposing pressure to your fingertips.
